Building a Part-Time Online Business: Creating Systems To Generate Money

Building a part-time online business while working full-time and enjoying quality family time is possible, but it does require planning, time management, and consistent dedication.

Let’s be clear, I am talking about those of us that have other responsibilities, be it a Job, school, taking care of family or whatever requires a lot of your time.

You have real commitments, but you need to make extra income and are thinking about starting an online business and you really don’t know how to get started or what to pick.

Today online we have information overload, you have so many choices and figuring out what is right for you is really the challenge.

Most of the time it’s not the online business idea you pick, most of the time it’s the systems you create for consistent action.  Those systems have to reflect the time you have and the money you can invest in your new online business idea.

What Do I  Mean By Creating Systems For Your Online Business?

For example: In the morning we wake up, probably turn off the alarm, walk to the bathroom, turn on the light, brush our teeth, take care of our business, take a shower, dry our hair, get dressed, make coffee, get our wallet or purse, get our keys, etc.

You get the point.  In order for us to get ready for the day when we wake up, we have a pattern or a system.  We don’t think about it because it’s ingrained in us.

When I talk about creating a system for an online business, it’s for the purpose of not getting lost in Analysis Paralysis and not wasting time and money on systems that may or may not produce results.

When I finally figured this out, It did not matter the type of Online business that I choose, what mattered was the consistent actions.

Here is my example of what I created for myself on one of my online businesses.

  1. Write an article once a week
  2. Post article in my blog
  3. Record the article
  4. Create a YouTube video
  5. Post video in YouTube
  6. Add article to my newsletter

This is just a quick example, the point is as long as you create a system, and you stick to it and change and adjust as you go, I believe it is 80% of your success in your online business.

If you already have your online business you want to focus on, then get started with creating your own system and stick to it, at least for a while before you start changing it every week and never really see the benefits of your work.

The system must be within the time you have and within your affordability.

But, let’s say you don’t have an online business. You are having trouble choosing a business  and you really have no idea what to pick:

Well, the best way I can answer this is by answering a question I am often asked.

If I had to start over again what would I pick and how would I get started?

I think I would pick affiliate marketing.

I would find an affiliate organization that has a good payment history, a good product and a good reputation.

I would pick an affiliate that also offers marketing education, good customer service and an easy to follow process.

Why affiliate marketing?

Although it would take some money to get started like any business, the systems are in place already and as I was talking about creating systems, this is important to me.

Having an online business that has a step by step process that I can follow and create my online business for me would be worth gold.

Here are the five things I would focus on in picking an affiliate company.

  1. I would find an affiliate company that aligns with my  interests, expertise, and passion. This will keep me motivated as I build my business. Passion drives perseverance, and building a business around something you love can make the process more enjoyable.
  2. I would make sure I could automate and outsource the business. By automating routine tasks and outsourcing aspects like content creation it can free up my time. Automation and outsourcing would help me focus on strategic activities and maintain work-life balance.
  3. I would make sure I could scale gradually: I would want to make sure the affiliate company is scalable gradually, I would focus on reinvesting profits into marketing, expanding product offerings, or hiring additional help when necessary. Gradual scaling would ensure stability and would allow  me to maintain quality while growing my business.
  4. I would set clear boundaries: Establish clear boundaries between work and family time. Create a schedule that allows me to allocate dedicated work hours and quality time with my family. Maintaining a work-life balance is essential for your well-being and relationships. I would enjoy the path to creating my online business and not let it consume me.
  5. I would pick an affiliate business that helps me stay Informed and keep up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and changes in your market. I would adapt my strategies as needed to stay competitive. Staying informed and adaptable is crucial for my long-term business success.

As you can see, on these five steps  I would do if I had to start again, the focus is on having a process and systems that have proven success and can be repeated and duplicated.  That is why I would pick affiliate marketing.

Realistic Expectations

I hope I have given you motivation and the “it can be done” attitude.

Building an online business while having full-time responsibilities and spending time with your family requires commitment, discipline, and effective time management.

It’s important to set realistic expectations and be patient, as success often takes time to achieve.

By following these steps and maintaining a healthy work-life balance, you can work toward building a thriving online business that complements your lifestyle.
